Trains To Delhi To Be On Electric Traction From December:

All trains coming to Delhi will be on electric traction from December 2019, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday

The move is expected to lower fuel bills, improve safety and increase speed of the trains, officials said.

The cabinet in September 2018 had approved a proposal for the complete electrification of the Indian Railways in the next four years, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuel and saving revenue for the national carrier.

The move will cost the government Rs. 12,134 crore. “By December 2019, all trains coming to Delhi will be on electrical traction,” Mr Goyal told reporters.

Around 650 trains start, end, or pass through Delhi daily, which handles around 12 lakh passengers everyday.

Sources indicated that a proposal to electrify the heritage Kalka-Shimla route was also under consideration, but as it is a UNESCO site approval from the UN agency is required before a go-ahead can be given.

The minister is likely to write to UNESCO soon, sources indicated.

“Highest Mark Is 126.13”: Railway On Group D Result

This marking pattern is being followed for nearly 19 years,” said the Indian Railways in response to the tension over group D result. Score cards, showing marks more than the total marks, shared by candidates on social media went viral after the results were out. The Ministry of Railways, in its first tweet, said that the viral score card is “morphed”. Later it released an official notification on the railway recruitment board portals. The group D result was released on March 4.

RRB Group D Result: Viral Score Sheet Of RRB Exam Is Morphed, Says Indian Railways

Candidates have been sharing the score cards where the marks secured are more than the total marks. In response to this, the Ministry has said, “it is not uncommon that on normalization, marks secured by a candidate would go more than the total marks of the exam paper.”

The highest marks in the said exam, says the Ministry, is 126.13. “Any other marks higher than this, is pure concoction,” it said.

Mark normalization is adopted in government exams where the exam is held across multiple sessions. In order to bring equilibrium in the difficulty levels of all the sessions, the marks of the candidates are normalized. The normalized marks can be higher or lower from the raw scores of the candidates depending upon the session in which the candidate took the exam.

RRB group D exam was held in 152 shifts for 51 days.

No Train Coach Set On Fire To Enact Godhra Incident, Railways Clarifies

No train coach was set on fire in Vadodara to recreate the 2002 burning of Sabarmati Express at Godhra as part of a documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway officials and crew members of a film production company said Monday.

Their clarification came after reports that an unused railway coach was set ablaze at Pratapnagar station in Vadodara on Sunday, during the enactment of the Godhra train burning incident.

However, both the Western Railway (WR), under whose jurisdiction the Vadodara division falls, and the production house involved in the film refuted the reports.

According to crew members supervising the shooting, a damaged coach, used for mock drills by the Railways, was provided by the authorities to recreate the burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra by a mob on February 27, 2002.

“We are shooting a biopic documentary depicting life and times of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This documentary film will be released only on social media.

“We are using a damaged railway coach, used for mock drills, to recreate the Godhra train burning incident,” said

Jayraj Gadhvi, a supervising executive of the film. Dhaval Pandya, a senior executive overseeing the shooting, clarified that the coach was not set on fire Sunday as claimed in some media reports.

“We had not set the coach on fire yesterday as claimed by some newspapers. After shooting that damaged coach in the same condition, we will apply special effects during editing to show it burning.

Western Railway PRO (Vadodara division) Khemraj Meena also refuted the media reports and maintained a damaged coach was used in the shooting.

Indian Railway Shifts RRB Group D Result Declaration To March

RRB Group D Result: RRB Group D result should be released soon. The result date has not been revealed yet. Earlier, the buzz was that RRB Group D result will be released by the end of February. But the RRB Group D result was not released till yesterday. With no confirmation form RRB yet, it is being speculated that the result will be released in next few days.

RRBs had announced Group D recruitment last year to fill 62,907 vacancies of Helpers, Track Maintainers, Assistant Pointsman, Gateman, Porter, Hamal, Sweeper cum Porter, Hospital Assistant etc. The computer-based test was conducted within 51 days between September and December.

As per Indian Railway, more than 1.17 crore candidates sat for the RRB Group D exam. During the month of February, an RRB official had said that with such a large number of candidates appearing in the recruitment examination, the recruitment boards are being very careful with result preparation.

The extra caution is also due to the embarrassment the National carrier had to face after it had to recall the RRB Group C result for first CBT when the final answer key based on which the result was prepared was found to have errors.

Indian Railway had to revise the result and release fresh result and cut off. As a consequence, the number of candidates who qualified for the second CBT for RRB ALP and Technician posts increased.

Indian Railway will have a busy 2019 with several recruitment processes lined up. It has to complete the recruitment process for RRB Group C and RRB Group D posts. It has completed the application process for RRB Junior Engineer recruitment and needs to begin the first stage CBT for RRB JE vacancies. Added to this list of recruitment form last year are recruitment for NTPC, Para-medical staff, and Ministerial and Isolated categories vacancies which were announced recently.

Piyush Goyal Launches Rail Drishti Dashboard To Track Train Information

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal today launched a dashboard for passengers to keep track of train punctuality as well as other such information from anywhere in the country.

The ‘eDrishti’ dashboard has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) and can be accessed at www.raildrishti.cris.org.in.

Launching the dashboard, Mr Goyal said people can now track any information related to Indian Railways in a swipe — even while on the move.

They can find out about the movement of trains across the country, train punctuality, freight and passenger earnings, freight loading and unloading, progress of major projects, public grievances, details of railway stations and much more, he said.

With regular complaints regarding the quality of food served on trains, the dashboard has also been linked to the base kitchens of the Indian Rail Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to allow monitoring of the goings-on in IRCTC kitchens through live video.

The dashboard will also provide live status of reserved and unreserved passengers travelling on trains besides providing the exact location of trains at any point of time.

Mr Goyal said ‘eDrishti’ was aimed at making the Indian Railways more transparent and asked people for suggestions to improve its services.
